Sam Moore, Family Solicitor at Druitts, is part of a team of 28 runners taking part in the Bupa London 10,000 on May 25th 2014 to raise money for the Meningitis Research Foundation(MRF).

Sam’s cousin, Connie Moore was a pupil at Bournemouth School for Girls and sitting her mock GCSE exams when she contracted meningitis.  Despite the best efforts of the Southampton General PICU Connie died on 19th January 2014, the day after she was admitted to hospital.

Connie’s friends have decided to run in her memory and raise money for the MRF, Connie’s Mum and family are joining them.

Sam said: “Our beautiful and inspirational Connie lost her very short battle with meningitis at the age of 16 and was taken far too soon.”

“Our lives are never going to be the same but if we can stop other families having to face the pain we are, by raising money for research and raising awareness of this terrible disease, then some good will come out of our devastating loss.”

She continued: “Running 10km seems a small thing to do after such a tragic event but I think Connie would be impressed because it’s so out of character.”

The team has so far raised over £10,000.00 for the MRF through a variety of fundraising events and has been moved by the support received. If you are interested in making a donation you can do so on the JustGiving website www.justgiving.com/Samantha-Moore9
