Lacey's Isle of Wight Startline

Lacey Griggs, from the Family Department, raised money for Parkinson’s UK when she walked 33 km round the Isle of Wight to increase awareness of the condition.

Lacey, said: “As a sufferer who has received amazing support during my diagnosis and treatment, I would like the research to continue into this condition and hopefully eventually find a cure.” She continued: “I feel this is a way to raise the profile of Parkinson’s UK, it also helps me to keep positive.  Making plans helps me live with Parkinson’s, completing this challenge would be a great achievement for me.”

For Lacey the Isle of Wight challenge was a training walk for her Parkinson’s UK Iceland Challenge in August. The Iceland Challenge 2016 is a challenging and memorable event which involves walking 2 marathons in 2 days, and wilderness camping under the midnight sun.

Parkinson’s UK – the support and research charity – is passionate about finding a cure and improving life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s.

Paul Jackson-Clark, Director of Fundraising at Parkinson’s UK, said: “Taking part in events like these are a fantastic and rewarding way to raise vital funds to support our work.” He continued: “As the UK’s Parkinson’s support and research charity we’re leading the work to find a cure, and we’re closer than ever. But our work is totally dependent on donations. We are incredibly grateful to Lacey, for her support and I hope her success will encourage others to sign up for an event in the future.”
